Not the Dance Team Again!
Your Dance Team is a great asset for your Dance School and is something that all the dance family should be proud of. The Comp team is made up of dedicated dancers and their Parents. These dancers put in lots of extra time to be part of the comp team. Those who don’t wish to part of the team can help them by showing their support.
The Comp Team members are always in the social media posts. This is because they are the public face of our Dance School and are very often performing . As I have said in a previous blog, who doesn’t love to see a pretty costume in a post (thttps://www.focusondance.com.au/eisteddfod-kids/ ). I find these are the posts that attract the most attention and are great for our Dance School’s publicity.
How Do You Feel About That?
So if you aren’t a part of the Comp Team how does this make you feel? Are you happy and excited for your fellow dancers or maybe you are a little jealous? Are you envious of their pretty costumes? Does it make you feel that you aren’t an important part of your dance school?
As a Dance Teacher, I feel that you should be supportive of these dancers and not jealous. These dancers are part of our dance family and so are you. Your support means the world to these kids. A simple like on a post or a “Good Luck” comment makes their day. It isn’t easy getting up on a stage and dancing all by yourself. These dancers get really nervous. Having a great support team, makes it easier.
You shouldn’t feel jealous of these dancers, you should be inspired and admire their hard work and dedication. You too can be part of the team if you want to put in the time and effort. Not everyone has the dedication. You can all admire the commitment of our comp dancers.
These dancers seem to improve at a faster rate than others and this is a point that makes others envious. Once again, as in https://www.focusondance.com.au/eisteddfod-kids/, these dancers spend so much extra time at dance. We have meet many eisteddfod dancers who spend every day of the week at dance and they are amazing. You have to have the time and dedication and then the improvement will come. If you don’t want to come to dance everyday, that is fine. Just don’t be envious of those who are able to spend more time at the dance studio.
How You Can Be Part Of the Team
You can be part of the comp experience by turning up to watch our team compete. You can show your support by being there for your fellow dancers. It is so lovely to have friends in the audience when you compete. A loud cheer is great for confidence when you go onto the stage. Just being there is a wonderful thing. They don’t expect you to travel hours, but when they are dance locally, it is nice to see you there.
Everyone Is Important
If you aren’t a part of the Comp Team, you are an important part of the Dance Family. Every dancer who comes to class is an important part of our Dance School. It is those students who are dedicated and turn up to their classes, ready to work hard, who make our dance school great. It is the Mums, Dads, Grandmas who get their dancer to classes on time who are the backbone of our Dance School. The little ones, telling us they “Love Dancing” make us want to teach dance.
You can Improve like the Dance Team
We love to see those dancers who want so badly, to get better. When a dancer has been working on a step or an Acro move and they finally are able to do it, it is wonderful for the dancer and the teachers. When a dancer listens to their corrections and works towards improving their dancing, it makes your teacher very happy. You don’t have to be a comp team member to do this. Listen and work on the things your teacher tells you and you will improve too.
If you aren’t a comp team dancer, you can spend extra time at home on your dancing. Practice your ballet exercises at home. This will help you to remember them and you will get stronger and better. Your teacher will notice that you have been working hard. If you can, get a copy of your music to practice too. When you show improvement, your teacher will be very impressed.
You are all important to our dance school and family. Family can be a little annoying at times. There is always someone who gets more attention then others. There is healthy rivalry and jealousy, but it is Family that will always be there when you need them.
